About Lotto

Lotto is South Africa’s classic jackpot game, drawn every Wednesday and Saturday. Six numbers are drawn from 1 to 52, followed by a Bonus Ball, and the Division 1 jackpot rolls over to the next draw whenever nobody matches all six numbers.

Nobody matched every number in the Wednesday 21 October draw, so the R2,500,000.00 jackpot rolls over to the next draw.

How Lotto works

  • Choose six different numbers from 1 to 52 for each board.
  • At the draw, six main numbers come out, then a seventh ball: the Bonus Ball.
  • The Bonus Ball only matters in the divisions marked “+ Bonus Ball”. It is never one of the six main numbers.
  • For an extra cost per board you can add Lotto Plus 1 and Lotto 5 Max, which use your same numbers in two separate draws.

Lotto questions

What time is the Lotto draw?

Every Wednesday and Saturday at about 21:00 SAST. The numbers usually appear on LottoFun between 21:15 and 21:45.

Do I win with three numbers?

Yes. Three main numbers wins Division 8, and three main numbers plus the Bonus Ball wins Division 6. Two numbers plus the Bonus Ball wins Division 7.

Is Lotto the same as Lotto Plus 1?

No. Lotto Plus 1 and Lotto 5 Max are separate draws with their own numbers. Check which games are printed on your ticket and compare each one with its own result.

Why do some older Lotto results have numbers above 52?

Between late September 2025 and May 2026, Lotto used 58 numbers. Since June 2026 the range is back to 1 to 52. Each saved result keeps the format it was drawn under.

How long do I have to claim a prize?

Prizes must be claimed within 365 days of the draw. Small prizes are usually paid at the shop where you played; larger prizes go through the operator’s claim process or your bank if you played in a banking app.
