Lotto is South Africa’s best-known jackpot game. Draws take place every Wednesday and Saturday at about 21:00 SAST. Lotto Plus 1 and Lotto 5 Max are separate add-on draws held on the same evenings.
How to enter
Choose six different numbers from 1 to 52 for each board, or use Quick Pick. When you buy, you can add Lotto Plus 1 and Lotto 5 Max for an extra cost per board; your same six numbers then take part in those draws as well. Each add-on has its own winning numbers and prize pool.
The Bonus Ball
After the six main numbers, a seventh ball is drawn from the remaining 46. It only counts in the divisions marked “+ Bonus”, which reward players who match the Bonus Ball with one of their own numbers.
Prize divisions and odds per board
| Division | Match | Chance |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 6 numbers | 1 in 20,358,520 |
| 2 | 5 + Bonus | 1 in 3,393,087 |
| 3 | 5 numbers | 1 in 75,402 |
| 4 | 4 + Bonus | 1 in 30,161 |
| 5 | 4 numbers | 1 in 1,371 |
| 6 | 3 + Bonus | 1 in 1,028 |
| 7 | 2 + Bonus | 1 in 96 |
| 8 | 3 numbers | 1 in 72 |
The same odds apply to each add-on draw, because each one draws six numbers and a Bonus Ball from 1 to 52.
