About PowerBall
PowerBall is South Africa’s biggest jackpot game, drawn every Tuesday and Friday. Five main numbers are drawn from 1 to 50 and one PowerBall from 1 to 16, and jackpots roll over until someone matches all six.
Nobody matched every number in the Friday 23 October draw, so the R16,000,000.00 jackpot rolls over to the next draw.
How PowerBall works
- Choose five different main numbers from 1 to 50, and one PowerBall from 1 to 16 from a separate drum.
- Your PowerBall must match the drawn PowerBall exactly. A main number that equals the PowerBall does not count.
- There are nine prize divisions. Even the PowerBall on its own wins Division 9.
- Add PowerBall Xtra when you buy to enter the same numbers into a second draw.

When is the PowerBall draw?
PowerBall is drawn every Tuesday and Friday. The operator lists 21:00 SAST as the draw time. Winning numbers usually appear on LottoFun between 21:15 and 21:45, and the prize payouts follow once they are published. Ticket sales close shortly before the draw.

What is the smallest PowerBall prize?
Matching only the PowerBall wins Division 9. You have about a 1 in 28 chance of winning that division with each board.
Why do older PowerBall results show a PowerBall above 16?
Until May 2026 the PowerBall was drawn from 1 to 20. Since June 2026 it is drawn from 1 to 16, which improves the odds of every division that needs the PowerBall.
How long do I have to claim a prize?
Prizes must be claimed within 365 days of the draw. Small prizes are usually paid at the shop where you played; larger prizes go through the operator’s claim process or your bank if you played in a banking app.
