PowerBall is the South African National Lottery’s biggest jackpot game. Draws take place every Tuesday and Friday at about 21:00 SAST. PowerBall Xtra (called PowerBall Plus until May 2026) is a separate add-on draw on the same evenings.
How to enter
Each board has two parts: five different main numbers from 1 to 50, and one PowerBall from 1 to 16, chosen from a separate drum. You may pick the same number in both parts. Add PowerBall Xtra when you buy if you want your numbers to enter the second draw as well.
Prize divisions and odds per board
| Division | Match | Chance |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 5 + PowerBall | 1 in 33,900,160 |
| 2 | 5 numbers | 1 in 2,260,011 |
| 3 | 4 + PowerBall | 1 in 150,667 |
| 4 | 4 numbers | 1 in 10,045 |
| 5 | 3 + PowerBall | 1 in 3,424 |
| 6 | 3 numbers | 1 in 228 |
| 7 | 2 + PowerBall | 1 in 239 |
| 8 | 1 + PowerBall | 1 in 46 |
| 9 | PowerBall only | 1 in 28 |
These odds use the PowerBall range of 1 to 16 in force since June 2026. Draws before then used 1 to 20, so old results on LottoFun keep their own range.
Checking your ticket
Your PowerBall must equal the drawn PowerBall exactly; a main number that matches the PowerBall does not count. Compare each game on your ticket with its own result: PowerBall and PowerBall Xtra. Prizes must be claimed within 365 days of the draw.
